The Icelandic outerwear brand’s autumn/winter ‘25 collection – showcased in an immersive exhibition – highlights the brand’s expertise in crafting fashion-forward clothing designed to withstand the harshest conditions, with the art of layering at its core
The autumn/winter ‘25 edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week heralds a pivotal milestone for 66°North. Not only did the Icelandic outerwear brand unveil its latest line-up at the event for the very first time, but this season also celebrates the label’s 99-year anniversary. “We’ve used Copenhagen Fashion Week as a time to look back and reflect on our deep heritage in Iceland, whilst also looking forward to AW25,” explains Helgi Oskarsson, CEO of 66°North.
Held in the lofty industrial-style space Pressen, 66°North’s AW25 showcase wasn’t your typical runway show or presentation. Instead, it was a day-long, expansive exhibition spotlighting the brand’s past, present and future. “It [the exhibition] has been designed to challenge the norm, emphasasing durability and timeless design,” said Oskarsson ahead of the showcase. “For the first time, we will offer a glimpse into our archive collection, and we will also be opening the exhibition to the public, meaning that our local community can participate.”
Dubbed ‘867,815,464 Hours’ (a nod to the hours passed since the company’s founding in 1926), the immersive exhibition provided visitors with valuable insights into the B Corp-certified company’s sustainability efforts, as well as a peek into the brand’s craftsmanship and technical prowess through a sensory experience.
The only segment closed from the public was the exclusive live presentation of 66°North’s AW25 collection. Entitled ‘Transforming Landscapes’, the offering, as Oskarsson notes, “is inspired by the way in which we shift and adapt in sync with the changing seasons and climates – something we are very well versed in doing as a brand based in Iceland, where you can sometimes experience all the seasons within one day.”
Honing in on layering – the essential skill in sub-zero weather dressing, mastered by many a Scandi – 66°North’s shielding, warmth-sealing layers served as the cornerstone of the collection. Worn over them, an array of freeze-proof bulky puffers, fitted shell jackets, chunky knits and roomy wool coats, rendered in icy hues that recall the fragile Icelandic glaciers (“They are an everyday and very real reminder in our back garden of nature's preciousness and something that we must strive to protect at all costs”). The AW25 line-up also debuts a new print, called ‘Fisherman’, drawing upon 66°North’s archival fisherman coats from the 1960s, its aged and textured appearance reflecting “the wear and resilience of garments that were shaped by daily life in Arctic conditions.”
Pair with technical cargo trousers and winter-ready accessories fashioned from off-cuts, and you’re ready to take on even the most temperamental of climates.
