An investment fleece is the perfect piece when working out what to wear as the temperature drops. Breathable, warm and – if you pick the right one – stylish enough to wear for all of your autumn adventures, my suggestion is to swathe yourself in the soft fabric. Wether you're hiking or heading to the local bar at the base of the mountain, a fleece is what I reach for the most as there is no need to sacrifice fashion for function. Here I've gathered my front-runners for fall:
Relishing this season's retro sports trend in the best possible way is Stella McCartney's 'Marlee' hoodie. Made from thick 'teddy' fleece with black cotton-shell paneling, the rubberised graphic logo dots our sartorial i's.
The versatility in this cream-coloured high-collar hoodie is the essence of its appeal. Cut in a comfortable wide fit, the half-zip and thumbholes makes the style suitable for both the city and the great outdoors.
The retro vibes continues with this Y/Project sweater. The black base and front zip fastening – ensuring its wearability – are offset with a bright orange and white pattern.
This unisex, textured sweater is an eye-catching option. Wether hitting the slopes or sauntering through the city, this soft fleeces makes for a perfect companion on chilly days.
For Autumn 2021, designer Veronica Etro drew inspiration from the wardrobes of Jimi Hendrix and ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev. For a more fashionable fit, this cropped fleece in a retro print channels Woodstock vibes.
Aa a Swedish classic, Fjällräven is a brand we can count on. Although not the most groundbreaking in its aesthetics, this two layer teddy fleece is functionality defined and works both as a robust, warm mid layer on cold winter days and as well as a jacket in milder temperatures.
Another unisex option on this list is the Synchilla Anorak made from 100 per cent recycled polyester. A contemporary take on the traditional design, this heritage inspired version offers oversized fit for optimum comfort.
The blue and black TB monogram pattern is emblazoned all over with this fleece jacket in a subdued take on the current reign of logomania. It's the perfect option to make a style statement on the days when you feel like dressing low-key.
