Passersby of Acne Studios' landmark Stockholm flagship on Wednesday night would have had cause to stop and stare, with the marble-lined space packed wall-to-wall with some of Scandinavia's most exciting talents. What exactly brought rapper Bladee, models Ceval and Ursula Wångander, designer Gustaf Westman, actor Nanna Blondell, and the Say Lou Lou sisters all to one place? The launch of Acne Studios' very first scent, created in collaboration with renowned perfumer Frédéric Malle – who was also present for the celebrations.

Acne Studios' creative director Jonny Johansson had been exploring ideas for perfumes over the past 15 years, but this first fragrance originated with a letter. “I received a handwritten note from Frédéric Malle where he introduced himself and expressed his interest in meeting,” says Johansson. Already a long-time fan of Malle’s perfumes, it didn't take long for the two to team up. “For me, this collaboration has been about entering his world,” Johansson says. “I feel like I’ve made a new friend. He is such an elegant man. The first thing he did was send me to his tailor on Savile Row.”

After toasting the fragrance, which Johansson says reminds him of “fresh laundry on the line at the summer house – evoking a little bit of romance with a dash of nostalgia,” the cohort of cool kids spilled out onto the street, headed for the classic 1930s restaurant Konstnärsbaren, tucked just around the corner, where an intimate celebratory dinner ensued.
