The unveiling of Beyoncé's glittering pink Acne Studios look coincided with the premier weekend of Barbie
When it comes to our Virgo queen Beyoncé, no detail is ever overlooked. So it's surely no coincidence that, as the Barbie film stormed big screens across the world for its premier weekend, Beyoncé rode the all-pink wave with a custom look designed by our homegrown Acne Studios. The outfit has clocked over 1.5 million likes since being shared on Beyoncé's Instagram, and sees Acne Studios join the likes of Loewe, Balmain and Mugler in designing (instantly viral) bespoke pieces for the Renaissance tour wardrobe, which the star has said is "an ode to dance music and queer culture."
Taking to the stage in Chicago and Minneapolis, the the shimmering metallic Acne Studios ensemble comprised a belted bustier-style top and shorts – tied together with a floor-sweeping jacket, cut with a cropped front and cape-link back. Stylists Karen Langey and Tara Greville completed the look with thigh-high Gedebe boots and glittering pink shades.
It's the not the first pink look to be unveiled on the Renaissance tour, however, with Beyoncé donning the shade from head-to-toe earlier this month with a tassel-trimmed bodysuit and jacket from her own label Ivy Park. And while most would argue this is Beyoncé's Barbie-fever moment, some fans are speculating that the arguably lilac-pink hues of the Acne Studios look was in fact a tribute to the Purple Rain legacy of fellow musical legend Prince, who was born and raised in Minneapolis.
Regardless of the significance behind the look – be it Barbie or Prince – it's a proud moment for Scandinavian fashion.
