The complete timeline of Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Mikaela Shiffrin’s relationship

Skiing power couple Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Mikaela Shiffrin make their Vogue debut in the pages of our latest issue. We look back at their relationship from meeting at the World Cup, to getting engaged in April of this year.

The two met for the first time, crossing paths at the Alpine Ski Racing World Cup in Chile. It would be 7 years until they would get into contact again.

On the 2nd of February 2021, Shiffrin’s father, Jeff, passed away. To offer his words of condolence, Kilde decided to send Shiffrin a message on Instagram.

They began officially talking to each other in the autumn of that year, and started to date out of the public eye.

Alexander posts images of the two to his Instagram page, announcing their relationship with the caption “If you know, you know…and now you know”.

The couple debuted their relationship on the red carpet at the ESPY’s in New York City.

While in the United States, the pair travel back to Shiffrin’s home in Colorado. The two train together, dance, play golf and enjoy the bliss of their new relationship. 

Kilde and Shiffrin team up with Atomic Ski, solidifying themselves as skiing’s ultimate power couple.

Back in the same place that they met, the pair compete in the FIS Ski World Cup in Sölden, Austria. Kilde came 2nd overall in the men's division, while Shiffrin claimed first place overall for women.

Both athletes entered into the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, with Shiffrin representing the USA and Kilde representing Norway. He takes home the bronze, his first medal.

After the winter sporting season is over, the couple holiday in California and Maui.

ESPYS again. Following their relationship debut at last year's event, the couple once again attend the annual sporting event. 

Back at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. The pair retain their positions from the previous year, with Kilde taking second place, and Shiffrin first.

The pair celebrate the festive season together with a joint post on Instagram.

Kilde's documentary, titled Aamodt Kilde is released, starring many shots of him and Shiffrin together, to fan's delight.

With the snow season over, the couple take time to relax, holidaying in the lakes.

Gearing up for the snow season, Kilde and Shiffrin train together, not always successfully...

Amidst their run at the Alpine Ski World Cup, the partners take some downtime, chilling together and playing scrabble.

Kilde has a crash while competing, going into the safety net at 120mph. Banged up and bruised, he is rushed to hospital and nursed back to health by Shiffrin. Posting about the event on Instagram, he says "This sport can be brutal, but I still love it".

During the course of Kilde's recovery, Shiffrin suffers a crash of her own after loosing balance while skiing. The two bubble together to recover alongside each other.

The couple get engaged, announcing it via a joint Instagram post.

Post engagement, the couple spend time together, holidaying and enjoying being fiancés.

The couple head to the Monaco Grand Prix as guests of Boss, a brand Kilde has had a long time relationship with.

Returning to Shiffrin's home, the two celebrate the US holiday as a freshly engaged couple.

The couple make their editorial debut in the pages of Issue 20 of Vogue Scandinavia.
