Alexander Skarsgård proved Swedes do minimalism best at Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein ambassador Alexander Skarsgård showed up for the brand’s buzzy NYFW autumn/winter '25 show in a deeply minimalist, deeply Swedish look

Swedes have long been ready for the Calvin Klein runway revival. Just ask brand ambassador Alexander Skarsgård, who turned up to creative director Veronica Leoni’s NYFW debut in a look that exuded effortless minimalism. Yes, Calvin Klein may be as New York as they come, but the slick '90s codes are nothing if not deeply Scandinavian.

Skarsgård sat front row (next to Kate Moss, no less) in a black collarless shirt tucked into slim black trousers and shiny black loafers. He finished the look with a smart black overcoat and blue-tinted sunglasses. The minimalist magic comes by way of contrasting materials and shades of black, giving way to look that gives shape and dimension, rather than blobby ink-stain.

But Skarsgård wasn’t the only Swede who turned up for this unfettered celebration of minimalism. Elsa Hosk was also on deck in a look that also served contrasting materials and excellent silhouette. Hosk paired a belted navy coat with patent black heels, finishing the moment with a smouldering smokey eye (a pleasantly unexpected choice – minimal makeup would have been a bit on-the-nose) and an easy up-do.

The buzzy show declared that '90s minimalism is officially back, but ask any Swede and they’ll tell you it never left.
