The Swedish actor and former Vogue Scandinavia cover star has lopped off her locks just in time for autumn, and we are here for it
Leave it to George Northwood, London’s king of bobs, to deliver yet another stellar hairstyle for his longtime client, Alicia Vikander. Snipping off her chest-length hair – a style she has remained loyal to for years – in favour of a chunky midi-bob, Northwood created a look that felt fresh and flattering for autumn.

“Alicia has worn her hair long for a while, but fancied a bit of a change,” Northwood tells Vogue. “She’s about to go and shoot a new movie, but while we were doing press for her new film, Firebrand, we felt it would be a great time to refresh her haircut. We went for a midi-bob,” he explains.
Slightly jagged on the ends, Northwood ensured her cut was left “thick and chunky, but with a soft edge”, he says. “It’s essentially a simple, one-length bob that’s slightly longer at the front.” The shape and length mean it is super versatile and can be worn with a centre parting or to the side. “It will look great with her natural texture or a bit of a wave,” he adds.

Styled with a little texture and Northwood’s signature bend, Vikander’s new cut is perfect for autumn – it will look as great peeping over the top of roll-necks and knits as it will with more formal looks, plus it complements darker hair colours, which become more prevalent in the cooler months. Already got a similar cut? All you need is this styling duo to nail it now:
