Romantic corsetry, fluid fabrics, and buttery leather – this was Acne Studios' SS22 collection
"We live in the age of self-identity, of instinct and experimentation. The look is provocative and hard, yet is grounded in handcrafts that are then subverted,” says Jonny Johansson, Creative Director of Acne Studios, about the brand's show during Paris fashion week.
The collection was an ode to contrasts. Permeating the looks was the juxtaposition of chiffon matched with leather and plaid contrasted with lingerie. The standouts of the show, however, were the traditionally handmade corsets. A top with attached sleeves was paired with a laced up skirt constructed as a corset, turned upside down and inside out.
Crochet and knits were given an inimitably Acne edge, while the handcrafted corsets were loose and unleashed. Etched baroque printed shirts were held by ties at the neck and chest, and trailing from oversized cuffs. Aged leather button-fronted mini skirts sported buckled belts, while a patchwork leather dress with lacing followed, adhering to the collections corsetry connotations.
