The limited-edition collection brings colourful Danish style to tried-and-true sportswear
Between Challengers hype and the Paris Olympics, summer is sportier than ever. But the comfort and utility of sportswear doesn’t have to come at the expense of style. Just ask Hay, the Danish design company that creates furniture and accessories at the intersection of fashion, art, and architecture. This summer, Hay has teamed up with the acclaimed Japanese sportswear brand Asics to deliver a capsule collection that packs a punch.
Comprised of sneakers, socks, and a weekend bag, the limited-edition collaboration celebrates functionality without skimping on aesthetically-pleasing design. Made for daily use, these products can elevate any outfit – a feat that is central to Hay's design ethos. The centrepiece of the collection is the shoe offering, a re-imagined take on Asics' 1994 Skyhand OG sneaker. Taking inspiration from Hay's Outline Pyjamas, the trainers feature colour-block design and accent detailing. The reinterpreted Skyhand OG will initially drop in three colourways – soft pink, soft blue, and emerald green – while a second drop this autumn (alongside new Outline Pyjama offerings) will introduce lavender and chocolate brown versions.
The dual branding on each item highlights the balance key to this collaboration. Hay's values of quality and accessibility merge with Asics’ technological drive to great effect; between the two kinds of foam used in the shoe and the thoughtful redesign, customers are sure to find both comfort and flair.
The collection will launch exclusively in the global flagship store, Hay House, during 3DaysofDesign, a festival dedicated to showcasing great design from June 12th to 14th.
