Despite torrential rain during the rehearsal, Copenhagen’s unpredictable weather couldn’t dampen the backstage anticipation of Rotate’s spring/summer '25 show
This season, a dazzling and diverse cast of influencers and models took to Rotate’s romantic garden runway. While the spring/summer '25 collection took centre stage, we honed in on the high-gloss hair – well deserving of an honorary mention.
Veteran hairdresser Cim Mahony helmed the backstage beauty team with makeup artist Sofia Tilbury. “We opted for an individual style for each girl, enhancing natural beauty and the cool-girl factor,” he says, describing the spectrum of hairstyles from “scraped back cool” to “beautiful twist-outs.”
Central to the styling was achieving a “blow-dried shine,” using the new Dyson Supersonic R hairdryer to create a glossy, polished finish. The look was further enhanced with Oribe’s Dry Texture Spray at the roots for natural volume and finished with a spritz of Oribe’s Superfine Hairspray for a lasting yet touchable hold.
A well-oiled machine of seasoned professionals, the environment backstage was the usual pre-show chaos and readiness to tackle any last-minute changes. “Having a fun and relaxed atmosphere backstage is essential to me,” Mahony emphasised. And when the pressure mounted with models arriving at the last minute, the team’s experience — honed throughout work on 50 to 70 shows together — ensured everything flowed smoothly.
As the showtime approached, a dramatic turn of events saw the sun break through the clouds, casting a golden glow over what was arguably Rotate’s most accomplished collection yet. It was a fitting end to what became the hottest ticket of this year’s Copenhagen Fashion Week, leaving everyone basking in the afterglow of Rotate’s radiant runway.
