Inspired by HC Andersen's The Snow Queen, Søren Le Schmidt's ice-bound models embraced the chill with a fresh-faced flush, just-kissed lips and eye-catching metallic accents

Last night, Copenhagen’s Kongens Nytorv was transformed into a striking ice rink runway for Søren Le Schmidt’s latest fashion show. Over a sprawling 1300-square-meter icy stage, models in up-cycled archival looks dazzled onlookers with their graceful spins, bringing the designer's vision of sharp, architectural black and white ensembles to life.

The fashion narrative, stark and futuristic, was brilliantly countered by the whimsical beauty concepts of lead makeup artist and hairstylist Sidsel Marie Bøg. Inspired by the chilling lore of H.C. Andersen's Snow Queen, Bøg aimed to "create something magical" with her team. "The ice-track is such a unique location, and we wanted to recreate this fairytale moment with it," she says.

Utilising high-performance products from Glo Skin and Shuemura, the makeup team sculpted a look that could brave the elements. Working with a matte, high-coverage base Bøg and her team adorned the models with argent accents and softly smudged, berry-tinted lips – two of the trends the beauty savant spotted in our roundup of the 2025 makeup trends to know. The silver "stickers" – decals attached on the lid and just beneath the eye – was the natural focal point of the face, framed by shimmering highlights and brushed-up brows.

As for the hair, Bøg wanted to keep things "strict and sleek and very sculptural," with each of the models sporting an intricate ballerina buns held in place with silver chopsticks. Gelled strands framed the faces, ensuring the style held its own against the potential whims of winter weather. "We're outdoors – it might be windy, it might rain, it might even snow, so we wanted a hairstyle that could hold up against all of that."
