Iconic British outerwear brand, Berghaus, celebrates its Copenhagen relaunch with a Liam Gallagher-fronted campaign

“When I am rich and famous, I’m getting one.” It's a sentence best read in a Mancunian accent given that these are the words of Liam Gallagher, the Britpop legend currently gearing up for the long-awaited Oasis reunion tour. What is the “one” he speaks of? It is the Berghaus classic, the Trango jacket.

Founded in the UK, Berghaus has been the king of the outdoor and mountaineering scene for over half a century. Worn by daring mountaineers Sir Chris Boninhton and Alan Hinkes as well as Liam and brother Noel on stage, the brand is synonymous with British high flyers.

It's Gallagher who leads the new Alasdair McLellan-shot campaign for his beloved jacket. “My first encounter with Berghaus was through my brother Noel,” says the Oasis star. “He purchased a green one in the late 80s and I was always pinching it off him. They were all the range and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of my own. I finally did that and I’ve still got it to this day. To be asked to work with them on their comeback means a lot.”

Few know better the trials and tribulations of cold and windy weather that the jackets were designed for like Scandinavians, so where better to re-introduce the Trango than the Danish capital? At an exclusive event at Storm in Copenhagen, the brand celebrated the iconic Berghaus coat (alongside other winter-ready jackets including the Mera Peak and the Lumley). Afterwards, guests enjoyed a cosy evening event at Soho House where they may or may not have been feeling supersonic and drinking gin and tonics.
