From dining in Brutalisten’s dramatic atrium, to a seat at Artipelag overlooking the gorgeous scenery, here are the five must-visit restaurants in Stockholm offering this year's best Julbord menus.

1

Brutalisten

For the more adventurous amongst seeking an innovative tasting menu, our recommendation is Brutalisten's Julbord. Chefs Stefan Eriksson and Coen Dieleman present a take on tradition that is both imaginative and carefully considered, incorporating Swedish herring, roast duck and even literal pine branches for a special desert dubbed 'Flavours of the Christmas Tree'.

Brustalisten follows the Brutalist Kitchen Manifesto, complying with the rule that ingredients are used alone to curate dishes with only the additions being salt or water. With the Julbord menu coming into play on 26th November, enjoy the flavours of a Brutalist Christmas.

2

Artipelag

Due east of Stockholm’s city centre, Artipelag encapsulates the quintessential Nordic setting. Referential of its location, the museum and restaurant are situated in the Archipelago offering waterside art-filled surroundings and an exquisite dining experience.

Serving handcrafted food with locally produced ingredients, enjoy a classic Julbord menu here from the 28th November through the 22nd December. The team of chefs pay meticulous atttention to detail, offering a wide array of items ranging from ginger-scented ribs with plums, traditional Swedish Jansson's temptation, and a variety of classic Christmas desserts.

3

Den Gyldene Freden

Self proclaimed as ‘nice and naughty since 1972’ Gyldene fuses past and present flavours in their meals. Offering limited seating, this year they will serve an interactive Christmas meal with certain courses delivered to the table and others offered at a lavish buffet laid out in their historic kitchen vaults.

Situated in Stockholm’s old city, Gyldene is sure to provide diners – locals and visitors alike – with an authentic Swedish feeling. The restaurant's interiors are homey - making this special meal even more comfortable and unique. From the 2nd December until the holidays enjoy a meal at this gem.

4

Gamla Riksarkivet

Located at the Old National Archives, Galma Riksarkivet is housed in one of Stockholm’s most historic buildings. After burning down 1697 and being rebuilt in the 1800s it was reimagined to function as a restaurant and venue space.

Since 2014, Niklas Ekstedt has brought a beautiful Christmas celebration to the Old Naitonal Archives. With six different tables, all topped with delectable options ranging from bread, fish dishes, meats and deserts, ensures that no guest leaves hungry. If you are vegan or vegetarian, this spot will be especially accomodating.

5

Ulriksdal Värdshus

Located just north of Stockholm city centre, Ulriksdal has been serving Christmas tables since the 19th century. Continuing the age old tradition, their extensive buffet with traditional Swedish foods does not miss a thing.

For the most indulgent gastronomic experience, this Julbord offers dishes made from locally produced ingredients.
