As the style set descended on the Nordic capitals for Copenhagen and Stockholm Fashion Weeks, one thing was clear: they were all opting for lighter leather when dressing for winter. Gone were the days of basic black coats and jackets, adding just a dash of Matrix to our mood. Instead, the sartorial zeitgeist in Scandinavia learnt towards an array of browns, from cognac to muscovado, when it came to outerwear.
Silhouettes were varied, with the Copenhagen cohorts wearing vintage shearling coats to combat the cold while, the Stockholm crowd preferred the longer and leaner lines in collarless coats. The one uniting factor across the Nordics was the colour way, the warming layers in earthy tones of brown.
