Indulgence and tactiliy defines Maja Dixdotter's swan song as the creative director as By Malene Birger
Speaking to Vogue Scandinavia about his appointment as Head of Design at By Malene Birger, Danish designer Soeren Le Schmidt remarked that “preserving the brand’s high-quality materials, impeccable tailoring, and versatile designs” would be his guiding consideration when soon takin the helm. Those seeking an example of these elements can look no further than the brand's autumn/winter '2025 collection, the swan song of outgoing creative director Maja Dixdotter.
Capturing that sweet spot at the start of the autumn, the collection notes describe 'turning away from the zest of summer, and, instead, towards something darker, richer, deeper. The garments ooze indulgence, with the brand's muse Malgosia Bela wrapped in chocolate browns, swallowed whole by fluffy, tactile knits. Cinched shapes, draped materials, soft fabrics: all of it suggests more than it shows, bringing to the surface a sense of sensuality.
As expressed in a statement, By Malene Birger's AW25 offering “is about honoring what has been, while looking ahead to what’s next.” And we keenly await what is next for both Dixdotter and the brand under Le Schmidt.
