Presenting a sparkling garden patch of botanical excellence at Oslo Runway, we're sure that the next spring/summer season will be blooming with ByTiMo
A sit-down lunch, with fare plucked straight from the garden patch, was just the setting for ByTiMo to unveil its SS24 collection at Oslo Runway.
This season, the brand behind Norway’s favourite floral frocks found inspiration for its Botanical collection, in what else but botany. The concept symbolises “togetherness, dreams, beauty, hope, freshness, health and growth in all parts of life,” according to founder and creative director Tine Mollatt.
As always, Mollatt populated her mood board with the brand’s vast vintage archive spanning over “a thousand old pieces that gives inspiration to every collection.” Having been an avid collector for nearly 40 years, Mollatt's expansive collection is brought out at the start of every new season. “In that way, I guess my collections build on each other,” she muses.
Summer nostalgia paints the collection in a watercolour palette of butter yellow, dusty pink, peach, and pastel blue. Botanical prints, antique florals, and historical influence permeate the line-up – featuring more two-piece sets than ever before, making this ByTiMo’s most easily styled collection to date. The brand’s signature frills and ruffles are rendered in materials like fragile lace, heavy duchess satin, flowing organza, and sequins. Billowing, bell-shaped sleeves frame sleek midi-dresses, while a floral pattern is printed under sequin mesh utilising a new technique for the brand. One sparkly maxi skirt instantly sparked the imaginations of attending editors, who discussed at length how they’d style it – be it with a weighty cotton t-shirt or leather jacket.
With details plucked from the past – be it a strong '30s shoulder found in a lemony jacket or the Edwardian lace rendered in a romantic '70s cut top – it is a free-spirited collection exploring elements of history without ever loosing grip of modernity. A feat that decidedly sets ByTiMo apart.
