The beloved Swedish brand has unveiled the star of its latest campaign, artist-of-the-moment, Charli XCX
Ever since Brat dropped and permanently altered the zeitgeist, it’s been Charli XCX’s world – we’re just living in it. The latest twist in her chartreuse universe? Becoming the face of Acne Studios. Following the footsteps of fellow A-listers like Kylie Jenner, Willow Smith and K-pop sensation ILLIT, the cult-favourite Swedish brand has tapped Charli for its latest campaign, shot in Los Angeles by American artist and frequent Acne Studios’ collaborator Talia Chetrit.
“We’re always drawn to personalities and creative energies that are unafraid to explore and challenge the idea of boundaries. What’s fascinating about Charli is how she blurs the lines between underground and mainstream, pulling these worlds together rather than apart, which speaks to me,” says Jonny Johansson, the creative director of Acne Studios. “She makes pop music, but she also has something pretty punk about her. Her influence is a bit like a mood shift – ultimately, she makes space for artists to be a bit more daring, and that’s exciting.”
Styled by Charli’s go-to stylist Chris Horan – the mastermind behind all of the star’s recent swoon-inducing looks, including the iconic wardrobe for her blockbuster ‘Sweat’ tour, which kicked off in that Acne Studios custom get-up – we see the artist sporting the brand’s latest offering with aplomb. Lounging in a minimalistic room and lush outdoor settings, Charli showcases some of Acne Studios’ most covetable pieces, like the coated, iridescent and paint-splattered trompe-l’oeil jeans from the label’s spring/summer ‘25 collection. Taking the place of her top are the season’s hottest accessories, including the Multipocket and Bowlina bags.
“Her [Charli’s] ability to bring a new perspective and push boundaries in an authentic way is something she does very naturally, which is precisely why she feels so aligned with what we do at Acne Studios,” Johansson continues.
Charli’s love affair with Acne Studios extends far beyond the ensembles that have recently broken the internet. “I’ve been wearing Acne Studios forever in my personal life and the brand has become a really important part of this album, too,” she says. “I was wearing Acne Studios whilst I was writing this record and I’ve been wearing Acne Studios on stage throughout my tour. Their clothes are effortless and cool and always make me feel confident. It’s a dream to work with the Acne Studios team.”
Acne Studios' SS25 coated denim and trompe-l’oeil collection as well as SS25 ready-to-wear, bags and accessories will be available in Acne Studios stores worldwide and online at acnestudios.com from 13th November.
