Christian Aks - SS25

By Josefin Forsberg

Hand-pressed flower prints and shredded silk soared above the rest at Christian Aks' Oslo Runway show

For his first-ever runway show, namesake designer Christian Aks elevated his presentation – quite literally – to the skies of Oslo, staging it on a glass-enclosed rooftop where an ethereal collection fluttered in the mild breeze. "As a relatively young brand, we want to take this opportunity to truly showcase our essence, aesthetics, and the direction we're heading in as a brand," Aks remarked. "It’s a chance to offer a clearer understanding of who we are and what we represent."

Aks's vision is certainly well-defined. Impeccably curated looks graced the runway, revealing the emerging designer's adeptness at minimalism. Tailored trousers and heavy knits in a palette of creamy neutrals were sent down the sun-lit catwalk, evoking a grainy nostalgia reminiscent of 1950s films set in the French Riviera (or perhaps the 1990s reimagining of those halcyon days, with The Talented Mr Ripley serving as a prime example).

"For spring/summer '25, we've embraced clean lines and delicate contrasts, blending structured shapes with soft, flowy fabrics," Aks explained. Yet it was the "essential" touch of nature that lingered in the minds of showgoers long after they’d departed the rooftop. This season, Aks incorporated pressed flowers, "preserving their natural form and colour" in two show-stopping pieces topped with shredded silk organza. "As a designer with a background in Paris, I also wanted to create some unique pieces specifically for the show," Aks shared. "From the outset, I knew I wanted to explore something about flowers, a source of perpetual inspiration in my life."

The floral motif also serves as a reflective element in Aks’ journey as a designer. "I haven't really incorporated flowers into my designs since my university days. This collection is a retrospective of where I began as a student, an assessment of where we stand today, and a glimpse into the future direction of the brand."
