For spring/summer '25, the Danish brand presented a post-apocalyptic take on today's world
Ahead of its spring/summer ’25 presentation, ‘Fear the Dome,’ Fine Chaos teased that guests could expect “a clash of despair and hope.” Indeed, an intense mood prevailed at the Danish brand’s two-hour showcase, set in an untamed greenery tucked between warehouses and stacked containers. As loud techno pumped from the speakers, models strode through the space, their makeup smudged as if slept in (or not slept for days), with some sporting bloody cuts and others wearing dystopian, ski mask-esque goggles.
“The main inspiration [for the collection] is the daily landscape in the world. What is going on right now – as a brand, we like to take inspiration from the political fields, the culture in Copenhagen, of course, but also outside Copenhagen,” explains creative director Marc C. Møllerskov. “We take inspiration from the current discourses that are thriving in the young communities. So it is sort of a presentation of the world we live in now and, at the same time, a critique of where we’re going as a human species.”
The models’ distressed state extended to the SS25 clothes, which arrived deconstructed, ripped, and raw. “Nature, in many forms, decayed,” populated the brand’s mood board this season, perfectly playing into the worn and rugged look of the garments. Deadstock and surplus fabrics, such as velvet, leather, and denim, have been fashioned into a dynamic mix of oversized and snug silhouettes – a balance that Møllerskov insists on maintaining in his collections. A dark palette dominates the line-up, mirroring the brand’s sombre take on the current state of the world. Yet, the hope hinted at earlier peeks through in bursts of colour, butterfly, and flower motifs – perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel?
