Gestuz - SS25

By Josefin Forsberg

Gestuz’s spring/summer '25 woman embodied the ultimate muse for the rock gods of the 1970s

As showgoers entered the decadent hall at Moltkes Palæ, a makeshift rock band could be jamming in the middle of Gestuz’s runway. Fronted by singer Brimheim (dressed in key pieces from the brand’s new collection, naturally), her husky voice reverberated through the chords of electric guitars and keyboards. The instruments crowded the plush Persian rugs in the centre of the room, and red wine glasses perched precariously on speakers. In fact, they looked as if they might topple over the soft velvet settees and the scattered vinyl records at any moment.

This season, Gestuz’s woman was fashioned into the ultimate muse. “My mission was to create a collection that embraced a summer of luxurious rock and roll,” says creative director Sanne Sehested. “I looked towards the women of the 1970s, especially in the music scene, and found such power in how they created their own personal narrative and how they dressed.”

Sehested found her own muse in the woman who spent the summer of 1971 in a Belle Epoque mansion on the French Riviera with the Rolling Stones as the British rock band recorded their album under sparkling chandeliers and gilded ceilings. These women – Bianca Jagger, Jerry Hall, Jane Birkin and more – could be found in Gestuz’s line-up of looks. “The It-women of this period were somehow both overdressed and underdressed at the same time, and I just love that,” says Sehestedt.

It’s a feat mastered by Sehestedt on Gestuz’s spring/summer 2025 runway. This is a woman dressed in leopard and leather and dazzling scattered sequins. She looks to have that enviable sixth sartorial sense when digging through vintage stores or her rock band boyfriend’s wardrobe. Somehow, her pairings of swathing shirts with large lapels and sultry mini shorts come together in that perfectly undone way. And when she throws an oversized blazer over nothing but a sheer slip skirt, she still looks put together.

She’s singular and unexpected. An individual with impeccable style. And she is most definitely our muse for the season ahead.
