Han Kjøbenhavn - SS25

By Josefin Forsberg

"This one is for the family" says Han Kjøbenhavn of his spring/summer '25 collection filled with surrealist shapes and denim

A space opera for the club kids came galloping down Han Kjøbenhavn’s runway this season. An ode to the “royals of concrete,” kids coming up in the urban landscape shaping the future, the collection hit the throttle from the very first look – a faux fur dress, which Kjøbenhavn himself thinks have a “humble beauty” in it — and never let go. Futuristic in its grunge appeal, the collection centred on sculpted, almost surreal silhouettes in leather and denim: the broad shoulders of a linebacker seen on cropped jackets with narrow waists, blown-up collars, layered leggings-turned-shoes, and crotches dropped so low they reached the knees.

According to Kjøbenhavn, the big challenge for this collection was trying to make it grounded – more for the people, less for the red carpet. According to the designer, the spring/summer '25 collection has a stronger voice – one from his childhood and early years. As he describes it, " It's more connected to the people of flesh and blood.”

Denim plays a significant role in this collection. According to the designer, the no-fuss fabric functions as a way for Kjøbenhavn to voice his early years, complemented by faux furs and faux leathers, adding tactile texture to a colourwise monotone collection. “This has been a different kind of creative journey,” he says. “ One where I somehow have to capture the extreme emotions that I would usually channel into exaggerated shapes - now extract that emotion into a different kind of voice.” A voice for his family and for the concrete kids he grew up with, no doubt.
