Herskind - SS25

By Josefin Forsberg

It seems Herskind was in hot pursuit of the perfect wardrobe for the working woman this spring/summer '25 season

While a modern-day Joan of Arc may not have been on Birgitte Herskind’s mood board for her eponymous brand’s spring/summer '25 collection, the silver cowls and sequin-plated top set our referential fashion brains ablaze. Not to mention sparked a burning sartorial desire in our editors.

Whether the saintly connection was a conscious choice or not, the early feminist spirit was there in a virginal white maxi dress with a billowing cape and in the subtle pouffe of balloon skirts and tops (a popular shape during Joan of Arc’s medieval times). Fanning those vague Joan of Arc flames further was Herskind’s ineffable approach to strong femininity, seen in the drape of a silk slip and in the fit of a sheer skirt. Herskind effortlessly blends traditionally masculine elements – power suiting portrayed through broad shoulders and perfectly fitted blazers – with the delicate softness of transparent textiles and flowing capes.

Beyond any potential historical references, Herskind’s SS25 collection caters to the modern working woman seeking versatility in her wardrobe. Mastering the delicate balance between muted minimalism, wearability, and interest created through considered details, Herskind demonstrates her expertise in the superb fit of a grey jacket tucked into belted tailored shorts and in the flattering crop of a pair of cognac-coloured leather hot pants balanced by a matching coat. Her talent also shines in manipulating a classic cotton shirt, be it blowing up the size of the collar or nipping in a cinched waist.

It’s evident that there were plenty of covetable closet knock-outs on the runway; the brand’s new blazers featuring flattering drawstring waists styled with capri trousers, the wrap-over tailored trousers worn with the show-stopping combination of a white sequinned sleeveless dress with matching trousers.
