Skall Studio - SS25

By Allyson Shiffman

For spring/summer 2025, Skall Studio finds its muse in Loulou de la Falaise, nipping in the waist of its breezy boho looks

While English designer and fashion legend Loulou de la Falaise has inspired many a collection (most notably as an original muse of Yves Saint Laurent), her eclectic maximalism may seem a bit at odds with Skall Studio’s confidently understated aesthetic. Yet, de la Falaise and Skall are very much cut from the same feminine, boho cloth (both de la Falaise and Skall certainly know their way around a peasant blouse). But it wasn’t just her aesthetic that inspired Julie and Marie Skall when conceiving their namesake brand’s spring/summer '25 collection. “We love Loulou de la Falaise for her personality and unique sense of style,” says Julie. “To us, style is what makes fashion interesting. Great style is personal and Loulou is a great example of that.”

She makes a strong point – when one thinks of Skall, it’s hard not to think of the effortlessly stylish women who wear it. It’s this very notion that’s carried the brand to a major milestone; this year marks Skall’s 10-year anniversary. Fittingly, the collection embodies all we’ve come to love about the Danish house. As Marie puts it: “Clean lines, classic and timeless design, feminine, yet casual silhouettes and intrigued details.” The collection is aptly called 'Viva Skall'.

The de la Falaise influence is not only felt in the boho touches (sweet lace and embroidery, gently puffed sleeves), it’s also felt in the silhouette. Namely, the waist. “The styling is very feminine and we’ve worked with a specific focus on the waist,” says Julie, pointing to the woven belts used to cinch in more billowing or A-line silhouettes. Even beloved Skall signatures, like the chore-like Gaby jacket, rendered for the season in organic cotton, gets a feminine update by way of a nipped in waist. Elsewhere, a new cotton-linen (“We don’t use silk, but we think it has the same exclusive look,” notes Marie) brings that sense of stealth wealth to easy skirts and blouses.

As the models snaked around crafty objects to the tune of Robert Sandrini’s 'Occhi su di me' (an Italian cover of Billy Idol’s 'Eyes Without a Face') curated by the Skall sisters in their cool, boho looks – women distinctly wearing the clothes and not the other way around – one is reminded of how fully-formed the Skall universe is. “Looking back on how we started 10 years ago, we feel both humble and grateful,” says Marie. “Skall Studio is founded on some strong values – and the fact that we have been able to stick to those values while growing means the world to us.”
