The opening of the ice rink was a celebration of luxury, tradition, and the beginning of the holiday season in the heart of Copenhagen

Illuminated in Cartier's signature red, soundtracked by festive jazz and and surrounded by excited crowds, an ice rink in the heart of Copenhagen has been unveiled.

After being closed for 16 years, the circular 1,300 square-metre rink – which winds around the historic Krinsen at Kongens Nytorv – is now open for the public to lace up their skates and enjoy over the holiday period. But last night, courtesy of Cartier, it was the stage for a captivating fairytale ice show, enchanting spectators with an eight-piece jazz band playing a custom medley, and three talented Danish skaters who performed magical choreography.

The show culminated in the wash of Cartier red that filled the rink and lit the sky – a majestic close to a celebration that coincided with the house's fifth anniversary in the Danish capital.
