Whenever any royal family member steps out for an official commitment, every detail is closely considered – outfits included. So it’s no coincidence that for Crown Princess Victoria’s and Prince Daniel’s visit to the United Kingdom, the chosen ensembles had an air of Christmas festivity about them.
The visit, which, according to the Royal Swedish Court, has been arranged to ‘strengthen and promote the longstanding and excellent relations between Sweden and the UK’, encompasses a three-day itinerary. On today’s schedule, the Swedish royals were received by the Prince and Princess of Wales at Windsor Castle – with the Princesses donning seasonally appropriate jewel tones of red and green.
Crown Princess Victoria's look was fittingly preppy for the afternoon at Windsor Castle, wearing a cropped tweed jacket by New York-based brand Alice + Olivia, with black and white trim and gold button details. She completed the buttoned-up ensemble with a silk pussy-bow blouse by Swedish label Stenströms and Saint Laurent's sleek 'Le Maillon' satchel in black.
Delivering an equally elegant masterclass in holiday dressing, the Princess of Wales wore a bespoke forest-green Emilie Wickstead 'Kate' dress with her favoured mid-length A-line silhouette. Committing to the hue from head to toe, Princess Catherine accessorised with matching pumps by Emma London and double-drop sapphire and diamond earrings inherited from Princess Diana's jewellery box.
The Swedish and British royal couples will step out again this evening for the Royal Variety Performance at Royal Albert Hall, held annually to support British cultural practitioners and entertainers. Tomorrow's final day of the visit will entail several commitments in the capital, including lunch with British politicians and representatives at the Swedish residence and an Advent fika at the Church of Sweden.
