House of Dagmar - AW24

By Josefin Forsberg

Envisioned through blown-up bomber jackets in leather, ballooning silver circle skirts, and sweeping seam details: For AW24, House of Dagmar takes on Georgia O’Keeffe and the perennial polkadot pattern

Georgia O’Keeffe has been a frequent muse to the fashion industry. Not only has her distinct art inspired countless kaleidoscopic collections, but her own eclectic yet pared-back style has become renowned as the ultimate artist’s uniform. And it is this uniform that informs Dagmar’s autumn/winter ’24 collection.

Rather than zeroing in on O’Keeffe’s organic displays of sweeping, rainbow-coloured florals and Americana motifs, House of Dagmar’s collection merges its own Nordic heritage with O’Keeffe’s singular personal style by way of circular patterns and lunar motifs. The result? A polkadot pattern that reads more 'art house' than 'playpen'.

In fact, circles encircle the whole collection, the shape spanning beyond prints and patterns to influence silhouettes: the voluminous cut billowing from the back of a coat, a cinched blazer with seams forming two flattering half-moons at the waist, and lest we forget the ballooning knitwear and rounded lapels.

Finally, as an homage to O’Keeffe’s collaboration with American sculptor Alexander Calder, Dagmar’s collection features sculptural silver jewellery that delves deeper into artistry and craftsmanship and handcrafted circular shapes.
