I couldn't help but wonder, is this the official return of the clingy grey mini dress?

Few television characters have captured our hearts quite like Sex and The City's Carrie Bradshaw. The immediate impact of Sarah Jessica Parker in a tiny white tutu and pink tank top sent sartorial shockwaves throughout the fashion sphere and has influenced the industry for over 20 years. Now, as she reprises the role for season two of And Just Like That..., Bradshaw is once again on the agenda.
But it isn't any of the new looks spotted in the first couple of episodes that have a chokehold on tastemakers worldwide (although that asymmetrical Norma Kamali body con dress has been making the rounds). No, it is the understated jersey mini dress she sported in 1999 (season two, episode 15, to be precise). Worn to a post-break-up debrief with Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha after a disastrous date with Vaughn Wysel, the short charcoal dress worn with aviator sunglasses and gold strappy sandals has been a permanent fixture on Pinterest boards and inspirational Instagram accounts ever since.

This Bradshaw look is particularly relevant now as the undeniable resurgence of ’90s minimalism permeates the fashion tapestry, with body-skimming jerseys on many a mood board. Take Emili Sindlev, for example. Dubbed the Nordics' very own ‘Carrie Bradshaw’, the Danish content creator lived up to the moniker as she attended the Roskilde in a grey mini dress suspiciously similar to the Sex and the City original.
In true festival fashion, Sindlev sported her body-hugging jersey with a bucket hat, knee-high buckled boots, and a Gucci bum bag.
But this wasn't a one-time occurrence. Fellow content creator Hanna Stefansson looked the part in a Modström mini dress designed in collaboration with Josefine Vogt. The gilded heels were also very much aligned with Bradshaw's original look, the gilded sandals created by Swedish shoe designer Sania D'Mina.
Swedish Stylist Nadia Kandil was also sporting the body-hugging silhouette, switching out the gold accents for all-black accessories.

If you need further proof that this dress is here to stay for the summer, Kendall Jenner will have you convinced. Spending some downtime in Paris before walking Jacquemus' autumn/winter 2023 show in the pruned gardens of Versailles, the top model opted to wear a grey St Agni mini paired with rectangular sunglasses, vintage Gucci heels with bamboo detailing, and a Bottega Veneta Andiamo Intrecciato shoulder bag.
