Here’s everything we know so far about the titular marketing executive’s upcoming adventures in the French (and Italian) capital.
In a nutshell:
After a delightful twist, which saw our favourite hapless expat relocate to Rome, Netflix has confirmed that Darren Star’s frothy romp will be back for a fifth outing. Here’s everything we know so far.

Wait, didn’t we already know that Emily in Paris was renewed for season 5?
Well, not quite. There was much confusion back in May when, during the amfAR gala at the Cannes Film Festival, Winnie Harlow and Paris Jackson appeared on stage to auction off a walk-on role in Emily in Paris season five for charity. In the official auction booklet, the listing read: “From Sex and the City to Emily in Paris, Darren Star brings dreams to life, and he will bring the film dreams to life for one lucky bidder with a walk-on role during season five of Emily in Paris. As part of the walk-on role, the winning bidder will have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming sometime after April 2025. To tide you over until then, the winning bidder and a guest are invited to attend the Los Angeles premiere of Emily in Paris season four this August.” Harlow and Jackson added that season five is scheduled to begin shooting in mid 2025, and the eventual winner of the auction shelled out a whopping €250,000.
However, it was then reported that the fifth season had not actually been greenlit, with the auction website being updated to say that the winning bidder would “have the opportunity to spend a day on set in Paris during filming, contingent upon season five pick-up”. Now that we’ve finally had the official confirmation, fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

So, what will be the plot of Emily in Paris season 5?
And, most crucially, will Emily Cooper remain in the Italian capital or return to the City of Light? “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” Star told Netflix, rather cryptically, in response. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.” Could that mean that she’ll be travelling between the Agence Grateau offices in Rome and Paris? And will she find herself torn between Lucas Bravo’s Gabriel and Eugenio Franceschini’s Marcello, as she was between Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) in the first half of season four?
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance,” added Lily Collins, in an interview with the streamer. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.” Star concurs: “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”
As for her will-they-won’t-they entanglement with the hot chef? Per Collins, “Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice” to end things with Emily. Ouch.

Who will be in the cast of Emily in Paris season 5?
Collins, Bravo and Franceschini will presumably be joined by the show’s other stalwarts – Ashley Park (Mindy), Camille Razat (Camille), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc) and Lucien Laviscount (Alfie) – though I am, personally, also hoping to see more from Rupert Everett’s Giorgio Barbieri and Anna Galiena’s Antonia Muratori, as well as Thalia Besson’s Genevieve. With Emily now out of the picture in Paris, who knows what this ambitious young upstart will get up to.

When is the release date for Emily in Paris season 5?
There’s no official release date as of yet, though given the gaps between seasons in the past – and knowing that filming won’t kick off until mid 2025 – it seems likely that season five will hit screens sometime in 2026.
Will there be more seasons of Emily in Paris after that?
It looks like it, yes. When asked by Deadline back in 2022 if season four would be the show’s final chapter, Star replied, “I definitely think the show has a life beyond next season. There’s no end in sight until everybody feels like it’s time to end.” Let’s hope that time doesn’t come for a while yet.
