As Euphoria’s return looms, so too does the revival of its signature beauty looks. Doniella Davy, the mastermind behind the show’s makeup magic, shares her next-gen visions for bold, minimalist statements – just in time for your Halloween glow-up. Get ready to dust off your glitter pots
It is an irrevocable truth that Euphoria has been one of the most tone-setting TV series when it comes to beauty trends over the past couple of years – and we have experimental makeup artist Doniella ‘Donni’ Davy to thank. Wielding neon eyeliners and sparkling gemstones, her out-of-this-world looks made a lasting impression on the way we glow-up to go out.
After a hiatus since 2022, the HBO favourite is making a grand return in 2025 with the cast coming together to start filming in January. And undoubtedly, it will bring another glitter revival with it. “I don’t try to bring trends from the real world onto the screen just because those certain makeup styles are trending,” shares Davy when asked about what she has in store for Euphoria's third season . “I’d rather show the audience something they haven't seen before, and more importantly, something that just so purely reflects what the character is going through in a particular scene." Having said that, there are certain makeup elements she is keen to keep on hand. “I’d love to explore sheer duo-chrome shimmery finishes with a grunge-y twist, unexpected blush placements and light blue lip gloss.”

When creating the looks, Davy doesn’t approach it as pure “movie makeup,” noting that she wishes to see more people explore minimalist makeup techniques in their daily lives. “I’d love to see people in the mainstream start to use face gems and studs in a minimalistic, every day type of way,” she says. “I love framing my eyes with single silver studs, pairing this look with an otherwise ‘clean’ face for a little pop of something unexpected and edgy.”

Her best advice for the minimalist makeup mavens in the Nordics? Apart from trying your hand at understated ways to incorporate colour, she says to pay little heed to “all the extra “glam” steps that you see on TikTok or YouTube like contouring, bronzing, eyelid crease definition, even foundation.” “Instead focus on a bold eyeliner, maybe in a dark blue or green,” she says. “Maybe you layer a glitter liner on top of that or add a coloured mascara.” If eye makeup isn’t your thing, she suggests we try a hot pink lip and silver metallic face studs underneath your lower lash line. “To me, the effortless approach to bold makeup, without all the extra makeup-y bells and whistles, makes it cool.”
It is safe to say that Halloween has become massively influenced by Davy’s singular Euphoria designs. As such, we grasped at the opportunity to ask the source herself about the best way to level up a Halloween look. “To make any look stand out, especially at night or in low lighting scenarios, you have to add glitter,” she urges. “I don’t care if you’re dressing up as a cat or as Chappell Roan [Davy would know, considering she does Roan's makeup], glitter makes every look just pop, especially on video, especially at night.”
So grab those pots of glitter and get dusting, people. Halloween is just around the corner, after all.
