We handpick the next gen to watch at this year's stacked Designer's Nest showcase
Designer’s Nest is upon us once more – the annual Copenhagen Fashion Week Showcase in which graduates from the top Nordic design schools hatch into fully-formed ones to watch. This year’s crop of talents marry daring originality with innovative sustainability propositions. The fashion of the future, if you will.
Handpicked by a panel of industry power players, the 10 finalists stand to be awarded prizes like a six-month internship at Bottega Veneta, a capsule collection at online retail powerhouse Browns and 50,000 DKK cash.
“The first thing I am always looking for is the point of view – an aesthetic position that questions something and proposes a challenge to the status quo and then references that show an understanding of fashion or a clothing culture,” says Dior Men's head designer Janosch Mallwitz, who sat on this year’s panel. “I think this year’s selection was especially focused on craft and in challenging their own position as creators in this turbulent climate and industry.”
Below, we handpick four designers to watch – one from each country represented – at this season’s Designer’s Nest.
