The creative director of buzzy Danish brand Stel took us behind the scenes of her busy day prepping for the prestigious Arts and Culture Ball at Christiansborg Palace
Last Friday, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark hosted the esteemed Arts and Culture Ball, an event that pays homage to the nation’s rich artistic scene and sees homegrown creatives from various fields, including music, fashion and film, flock to the Christiansborg Palace. Held once a decade, receiving the coveted invitation is undoubtedly an honour – one that Astrid Andersen, the creative director of Stel (and formerly of her cult-favourite eponymous label), had the pleasure of experiencing.
A grand evening calls for grand preparations, and Andersen took Vogue Scandinavia along for her day of getting ready for the ball – capturing each moment up until she headed to the palace.
Below, scroll through for her highlights from the unforgettable day.
10:45AM: Selecting jewellery at Vibe Harsløf’s studio
"After driving in from our family home in Vejle, our first stop in Copenhagen is Vibe Harsløf’s studio. Jewellery is always the final, defining touch, and stopping here feels like the perfect way to start the day. Vibe and I recently collaborated on my Stel Collection 03 show at Copenhagen Fashion Week, where her pieces added the perfect edge to my runway looks. Now, getting to wear some of those same design pieces my models walked in feels like a seamless continuation of that creative moment. We sift through her collections, trying different combinations, refining the vision. It’s always a fluid process, and that’s what makes it so exciting."

12:30PM: A stay at Hotel Bella Grande
"Checking into Hotel Bella Grande, a space that is the perfect balance of historic charm and modern elegance, is exactly what I love about Copenhagen. Design and architecture have always been a driving force in my work with Stel, and I’m drawn to places that tell a story through their aesthetic."
