Frida Aasen takes Vogue Scandinavia along to document her preparations for Paolo Sorrentino's buzzy Parthenope premiere. Scroll on for all the behind-the-scenes moments
Venturing to Frida Aasen's hotel room at the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes, mere hours before the premiere of Paolo Sorrentino's Parthenope kicked off, photographer Robin Kater was met with a buzzing hive of activity in the Norwegian model's bathroom. For many, red carpet preparations would be a setting of high stress, but Aasen founder herself at ease thanks to the friends dotted around her – she counts her hair stylist Alexandre Reboul and makeup artist Kelly McClain – working with Wonderskin products – as buddies. "The mood was really good! Whenever we do glam it’s a fun catch up," Aasen says. "My friend Cindy Mello was also getting ready in the same room, so we all had the best time."
Aasen opted for a show-stopping Nina Ricci by Harris Reed look, that swathed her statuesque form with soft pleats at the torso and hemline. "I wanted something that really felt like me," Aasen says, being a Cannes Film Festival regular. "Something a little different than the previous years." To complement the look, the makeup was kept fresh and light. "I loved the glow and freshness in the skin," Aasen reflects, "and the little pop of white we did in the inner corner of the eye."
The 2024 Cannes event was not Aasen's first red carpet rodeo, and won't be her last either. "I love the French Riviera," she enthuses. "It's such a beautiful place, and since we live in Monaco, it really feels like home."
