Blending retro nostalgia with modern flair, Gucci has introduced a new iteration of its beloved 'Blondie' bag, and we can't wait for it to hit the shelves this autumn
As Sabato De Sarno unveiled his Resort ’25 collection for Gucci at London’s Tate Modern gallery, a slew of polished looks emerged, echoing De Sarno’s love affair with the British capital and Guccio Gucci’s own experiences working in the city as a teenager back in 1899. The line-up was heavy with covetable accessories, including mega-sized 'Jackie' bags and strappy ballet flats, but one piece stole the attention: the revamped 'Blondie' bag, a design that nods to the Italian house's rich history.
The Gucci 'Blondie' traces back to the early ’70s when the brand introduced a fresh, rounded take on its iconic interlocking Gs. The debut Gucci 'Blondie' bags, crafted from the label’s signature suede and adorned with the new emblem, evoked the free-spirited essence of the ’70s. This same sense of effortless sophistication is reflected in De Sarno’s iterations, which were breezily slung over the shoulder and elegantly hand-carried by the strap on the runway at Tate’s Tanks space.

Boasting two versions of the logo – one rendered in leather and the other featuring enamel, utilising a technique the house employed for its jewellery in the ’70s – the new Blondie bags arrive in buttery Tuscan leather or canvas, complete with the GG monogram. A harmonious blend of nostalgia and contemporary allure, we predict this piece will dangle on the arms of many a style maven once it’s available for purchase in October.
