Earlier this summer, Hay, the danish lifestyle brand lauded for its colourful designs, partnered with Japanese sportswear giant Asics on a collection of candy-coloured sneakers. Now, the second drop of the collaboration is here, borrowing its rich colour ways from a Nordic autumn
When the first part of Hays collaboration with Asics launched in June, we couldn't help but covet the classic block colour design. Available in three sorbet shades with retro-reminiscent contrast details inspired by Hay's Outline pyjamas, the shoes quickly climbed to the top of our shopping lists, becoming one of the most sought-after sneakers to sport around the city. That said, those halcyon days of summer – where pastel shades felt particularly fitting – are far behind us. Now, we're headed into autumn, and yet again, Hay and Asics are leading the way.
A re-envisioning of a 1994 pair from the Asics archives (the Skyhand OG) that Hay has put its colourful finishing touch to, the second drop in the collaboration sees two new colour ways hit the market: Orchid Hush/Flame Scarlet (a pale lilac body featuring bright red details) and Tortoiseshell/Blueberry (a chocolate brown base contrasted by a purplish navy).
Hand-picked by Hay co-founder and creative director Mette Hay, the colour combinations were undoubtedly inspired by the shifting Scandinavian nature – blueberries, muddy fields, autumn leaves and all. "It is great to be venturing outdoors with Asics, a brand that aligns greatly with HAY’s core value to make well-designed products for all,” Hay commented in June.
Our favourite part of this discerning collaboration? The fact that we can wear our new sneakers with colour-matched socks. Talk about making intentional styling a breeze.
