The Danish supermodel is no stranger to the Copenhagen Fashion Week runways, but for SS25, her appearance – alongside her creative counterpart Camilla Stærk – was of the literary kind

Beloved Vogue Scandinavia alumni Helena Christensen and Camilla Stærk have been best friends and collaborators for 24 years, first encountering each other in the summer of 2000. "When we first met, we immediately clicked," the duo recounts of their first meeting, when Christensen was to shoot Camilla's portrait for Nylon – the magazine that Christensen had just co-founded. "We decided on the spur of the moment to go to Prague and shoot Camilla’s first lookbook solely with Polaroids," they go on. "We scouted some local girls and took all the pictures in a magical garden in the middle of the city. Ever since that trip, we continued collaborating creatively, and over time, our friendship also grew."

The duo has always shared something of an intuitive bond, that's only grown over the decades. "We worked mostly in silence, no words seemed necessary," they reflect, "and this is how it still is to this day. There is a unique sense of understanding between us, an immediate deep bond of expression within our two worlds."

Naturally, plenty has been documented in both professional and personal contexts over the years, culminating in the release of In My Dream Last Night.... Describing the book, which is bound for the most discerning of coffee tables, as "a visual journey of our long-standing friendship and creative bond", Christensen and Stærk have curated the pages to capture their personal moments, thoughts and, as the name suggests, dreams.

While a multimedia project by Christensen and Stærk that shares the name In My Dream Last Night... has been underway for several years, it was Copenhagen bookstore New Mags that approached the pair about two years ago with the idea of the book. "We were immediately drawn to the idea, as it would be the perfect way to present our story visually," they say to Vogue Scandinavia ahead of its release. "We are very excited about holding the physical book in our hands."

That they did last week at the New Mags store in Copenhagen: holding, signing and celebrating the book amidst the controlled chaos of fashion week. "It was logical for the launch to take place at the publisher’s headquarters, and being one of our favourite bookstores, we are proud to have our book there," Christensen and Stærk say. "Our creative friendship began in Denmark, and we plan to have more launches in cities that hold special significance to us:"

Published by Étui Editions and stocked by New Mags, 'In My Dreams Last Night' is a visual journey of Helena Christensen and Camilla Stærk's long-standing friendship and creative bond.
