By Clare McInerney

Helena Christensen touched down in Miami for the exciting extravaganza that was Jaguar's Type 00 unveiling event. As it turns out, the Danish beauty's relationship to the sun-drenched city runs deep

Spending much of her life with a camera or paintbrush in hand, it doesn't come as a great surprise that Danish beauty Helena Christensen has just been spotted at Miami Art Week. Her appearance, however, was in celebration of the art of automobiles as she lit up the Jungle Plaza in the city's Design District for Jaguar's exclusive rebrand event.

Rubbing shoulders with other A-list models such as David Gandy and Karolína Kurková, Christensen stunned in a black slip dress with subtle lace panels, a Chanel bag in suitably Miami pastel tones over her shoulder. Following a presentation by JLR's chief creative officer Gerry McGovern, Christensen admired the newly unveiled Type 00 models up close, even capturing some snapshots of the statement vehicle on her own iPhone.

Christensen's time in Miami hasn't simply been a party stop-off, however. As the supermodel shared later to social media, the sun-drenched Florida city holds a lot of sentimental value. "I used to spend quite a lot of time in Miami when I was a child because we had family here and would stay with them on our way to Peru," she noted in a series of Instagram Stories. "My dad’s uncle and aunt moved to Miami during the Second World War and opened up a health store" another read. "I vividly remember hearing the story that once, when a big hurricane hit the city, there were vitamins and pills scattered all over the roads for a long time after."

She also referenced, with fondness, the moments when her illustrious modelling career brought her to Miami. "In my early 20s I would come to Miami for work with Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber, shooting the old art deco hood and rooftops bathed in warm sun glow, staying in cool little hotels," Christensen reminisced. "Those Miami shoots will forever be imprinted in my mind as precious memories."

"I still love Miamia in a very nostalgic way," she added. "The warm breeze, the pastel-coloured architecture, the turquoise ocean, the shrieking seagulls and so many joyous memories."
