We join eponymous designer Emilie Helmstedt inside her brand's debut store experience, brimming with colourful and artful details

Since its founding in 2018, Helmstedt has amassed a devoted following of artists and It girls, with everyone from Kendall Jenner to Laufey donning its quirky, colourful designs. It's no surprise, then, that its new shop Helmstedt Archive in Copenhagen – initially conceived as a pop-up but now extended indefinitely - has been a hit, with locals and visitors alike flocking to get their hands on coveted Helmstedt dresses and jackets. Speaking about the store's opening, brand founder Emilie Helmstedt said, “I am very grateful to welcome our audience inside my universe... It’s a gift to be able to give a present experience in a very digital world.”

For a brand known for creative craftsmanship, the Helmstedt Archive store is a perfect reflection of brand codes and values. The space is instantly welcoming, with wooden counters and screens bringing warmth. On the walls hang art pieces from Emilie Helmstedt’s own collection, including a tapestry by her grandmother, Lone Helmstedt. Paper flowers by Almeja Space bring whimsy to the store, yet another example of a collective appreciation of handcrafts.

Helmstedt pieces are known for their rich dyes, hand-painted patterns, and textural variation, making an in-store shopping experience perfect for customers who shop with a holistic, tactile approach. One stand-out from the shop is emblematic of these qualities: the Vera Cardigan. The piece, rendered in a deep blue with brown trim and ribbon closures, employs sashiko embroidery to create textural variation and introduce a winding motif of pastel patterning. Whether you’re looking for a summer dress and cosy trench or brooches and silk scarves - or you simply want some interior design inspiration - Helmstedt Archive is Copenhagen’s place to be.

Helmstedt Archive is open at Gronnegade 43m Copenhagen K.
