The Acne Studios autumn/winter 2025 show was set to a glitchy remix of Björk’s “Human Behaviour” by underground artist Exmantera. The Helsinki-based artist reveals how this major moment came together

For any musician, getting the seal of approval from Björk is a fantasy. That was especially true for Helsinki-based electronic artist Exmantera, who remixed the Icelandic icon’s track ‘Human Nature’ for Acne Studio’s autumn/winter 2025 runway show. “Björk has had a big impact on me and I’ve listened to their music ever since i was a kid, says Exmantera. “Homogenic is my favourite album. Felt surreal when they reached out to me.”

While music is always vital to set the mood at a runway show, in the case of Acne Studio’s AW25, the music was the basis of the entire collection. It was the Michel Gondry-directed music video for Björk’s “Human Behaviour”, which co-stars a big lumbering bear, that inspired creative director Jonny Johansson’s fuzzy mohair bodysuits and cocoon-sleeved furry frocks. Exmantera’s remix, meanwhile, brought a gritty energy to the ethereal original, perfectly capturing the collection, which explores the intersection of nature and urban environments.

Though Exmantera is beloved in the underground electronic scene, the Acne Studios runway show, which was attended by the likes of Doechii, Peggy Gou and Bladee, is their biggest moment to date, not to mention somewhat of a dream come true. “Working with Björk and Acne Studios both has been truly amazing and very inspiring,” they say. “I have always wanted to make music for fashion shows, as i’ve always felt very inspired by fashion, and to be able to do it in this context felt quite crazy.”

Björk discovered Exmantera through their music – their raw, industrial track “DISTILL” has even worked its way into a Björk DJ set. Björk reached out to Exmantera initially and, around that same time, the Acne Studios opportunity just so happened to come to Björk. The offer to remix the track came directly from Björk, who’s credited as music curator for the runway show. “I really liked the show altogether,” says Exmantera, noting that the music paired with the collection “made sense”.

For Exmantera, seeing it all come together was a major moment. “Seeing the show together with music made me feel quite overwhelmed,” they say. “So many people and everyone is hearing what i made on my laptop a month before.”
