Extraordinary settings

Upon arriving at Hotel Diplomat, guests are greeted by its historic building, which dates back to the early 1900s. With sweeping facades featuring elegant and intricate detailing, ornate balconies, and large windows, the building exudes a sense of timeless sophistication, standing out as one of the most striking landmarks dotting the harbour. In case you wish to explore what the city has to offer, various parks and shops are right around the corner, while the ferries right outside the hotel provide convenient access to the idyllic Stockholm archipelago.

The attention to detail and commitment to excellence extend seamlessly throughout the hotel’s interiors, ensuring an exquisite experience from its rooms and suites to the general areas, all meticulously designed with guests’ comfort and satisfaction as the utmost priority. “In honour of its history as a home to many ambassadors, the building was named Hotel Diplomat,” explains Cappelen. “Interior designer Gunborg Ström and furniture designer David Rosén from NK Inredning were assigned to decorate the hotel, and after consulting with the hotel founder, Sune Malmström Sr., it was decided that the hotel should be decorated in an airy, subtle, and Scandinavian style, leaving behind the darker colours of the 60s.”

Stylish suites

Hotel Diplomat boasts 130 unique, beautifully decorated rooms, with its lavish suites as the cherry on top. Ranging from junior and family suites to the executive and the master suite – the most expansive one, spanning 69 square metres – Hotel Diplomat’s suite selection is among the top tier in Stockholm, guaranteeing an unforgettable stay.

“Our suites are adorned with classic elegance that has hosted icons for more than 60 years,” says Cappelen. Furnished with a warm and welcoming feel, the suites feature calming neutral tones punctuated by touches of vibrant colours. With spacious layouts and thoughtful amenities, such as modern technology and plush bedding, the suites provide guests with an indulgent oasis. “We value freshness and crispness deeply and focus on a first-class sleeping experience. The interior is crafted by smaller suppliers with an emphasis on sustainability and quality that age with grace,” Cappelen says. “When it’s time to retire to your suite, I recommend slipping into a cosy bathrobe with a glass of Champagne while watching the sun set over Nybroviken. It is a truly unique and luxurious experience.”
