Swedish brand Ida Sjöstedt's autumn/winter 2025 collection explores "soft values," expressed through playful yet elegant pieces designed for the confident modern woman. Below, an exclusive look at the label's AW25 offering

“There are so many layers when designing a collection, and I’ve always preferred to use the emotional aspect as a starting point,” says Ida Sjöstedt. For her eponymous label’s autumn/winter ‘25 collection, feelings – or “soft values”, as the designer describes them – such as belonging, sincere joy, honesty and friendship formed the foundation.

Inspired by her own hard-working, empowering team, last summer’s Olympics – where athletes supported one another – and the popular Netflix show America’s Sweethearts, which chronicles the demanding life of Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and the unwavering camaraderie that develops between them, Sjöstedt explains: “There is so much to be sad or worried about in the world right now, but there is also so much beauty, empathy and good in people, and that was what I wanted to focus on and try to express through my collection.”

Rendered in calming, neutral hues of whites, beiges, greys and blacks, the AW25 collection zeroes in on timeless wardrobe classics for the busy modern woman, infused with Ida Sjöstedt’s signature touch of romance and whimsy. Fluid silhouettes, such as cascading hems and billowing sleeves, meet more structured forms in dapper, 100 per cent recycled wool jackets and sharp tailoring. As always with the brand, a rich interplay of textures takes centre stage: soft-as-cloud knits, delicate lace, sequin-embellished ripped denim, silky satin, plush faux fur and dainty tulle offer endless options for an eye-catching look that transitions from day to night.

“I want every woman to feel confident, at ease and just generally at her best, wearing these pieces,” Sjöstedt says. “Clothes that are comfortable and make you feel beautiful can really be empowering, and if I can add a little bit of happiness to people’s lives with my clothes, that’s the highest level of confirmation I can imagine.”

The AW25 line-up marks another step in the brand’s ongoing transformation from an indie couture label to a globally recognised fashion house. “When I started my journey as a designer, I was living the starving-artist-in-a-suburban-basement-atelier lifestyle – creating magical couture pieces and never planning ahead more than a season at a time,” Sjöstedt says. “Now, after twenty-plus years, the collection has been adapted for today’s world, reflecting the quality where a lot of the focus is on demi-couture craftmanship on a high level available to a wider audience, as well as showing a complete wardrobe rather than just one-of-a-kind pieces.”
