In a special commission for Vogue Scandinavia, Barcelona-based Fiorella Quaranta turns her artful hand to Copenhagen Fashion Week, illustrating her 10 favourite street style snapshots from the AW25 edition
Fiorella Quaranta’s illustrations have a pulse of their own, capturing the essence of fashion in a way that goes beyond just clothes. Originally from Argentina and now based in Barcelona, she spent over a decade designing textile prints before fully committing to illustration. Her work stands out for its dynamic compositions, where figures come to life in bold colours and exaggerated proportions.
There's a spontaneous spirit in her work, but her creative process is methodical. “I find it hard to work spontaneously, it's something I try to practice at least once a week,” she admits. “The truth is, when I sit down to create, I already have something spinning in my head. Inspiration comes from all over – whether it’s after a chat with a friend or just taking a stroll around Barcelona. I’m sure I’m not the only one with a phone full of “inspiration” photos that I later forget why I even took them," Quaranta laughs.
This time, the inspiration was Copenhagen Fashion Week. In a special project for Vogue Scandinavia, Quaranta has turned her artistic hand to the street style at the AW25 edition, exclusively illustrating 12 stand-out looks as captured in 10 snapshots from the week. It's a commission that felt close to her heart. “What I love about Copenhagen Fashion Week is that it's a breeding ground for new designers,” she says. “It’s not just about trends, it’s about creating fashion with purpose. There’s a strong focus on sustainability and offering something meaningful, which is what makes it so special to me.”
Her illustrations offer an interpretation of Danish style, which she describes as “simplicity with a small twist.” “The silhouettes are clean and effortless, with no extra frills, but there’s always something unexpected,” she says. “Danes tend fo invest in quality pieces – things like jackets, shoes, bags, and knitwear – that are both functional and stylish. There's that relaxed, 'undone' vibe. It’s about looking effortless, but you can tell the pieces are well thought out and meant to last.”
Quaranta uses Procreate on her iPad to experiment with colour, texture, and form, blending digital and traditional techniques to bring depth to her work. When choosing the looks for this exclusive Vogue Scandinavia series, she zeroed in on the about the details. “I ask myself, how would I represent that print? Or, what makes this silhouette interesting?” she explains. “The magic is often in the small things – textures, layering, accessories, or the way a fabric moves.”
“If you zoom into my illustrations, you’ll notice intricate details that highlight what initially grabbed my attention,” she adds. “Each look tells a story, and I aim to capture that essence in my work.”
