No matter cropped, bleached, distressed, or patchworked: it is time to let our denim jackets bask in the sun
In February, Copenhagen's cobbled streets were already overrun by savvy show-goers sporting jean jackets. While denim season had not yet properly sprung, our favourite street stylers sported a mishmash of light and dark washes and material mixes – and classic blue jean versions cropped ultra-short to show off leather corsetry.
The trend continued on across the continent. In Milan, tastemaker Anna Dello Russo wrapped up in a dramatically distressed fringe-edge denim coat, while other fashion week attendees opted for slightly more muted versions of floor-sweeping, bleached heavy cotton. Very few traditional takes could be spotted in the streets of the fashion week capitals. Instead, delectable details ruled supreme: waistbands attached to the back of a distressed denim jacket, oversized pleated pockets, and intricate embroidery, just to mention a few.
And while we're pretty convinced that these light layers kept no one warm enough in the depth of winter (unlike the rest of society, street stylers will happily suffer a chill for a sartorial statement), now is the time to don denim jackets. Below, we've gathered the best street style looks topped by a jean jacket to inspire your denim ventures this spring.
