The sustainable Finnish swimwear brand has teamed up with Swedish Mathilda Månsson and Finnish Kaisla Laranta, who have created mouth-watering prints for the label's limited-edition pieces bound to grace Nordic beaches and beyond

This summer, we’re leaning into swimwear that makes a statement. With Elsa Hosk’s Heavy Manners collab and the just-dropped Djerf Avenue x Frankies Bikini range, the season has kicked off with a slew of swoon-worthy pieces to add to our ‘swimdrobe’. The cherry on top? Finnish brand Lilja the Label’s latest limited-edition line-up, dreamt up in collaboration with two Nordic artists: Finnish Kaisla Laranta and Swedish Mathilda Månsson.

With a mission to create unique and sustainable pieces to be cherished for countless summers and vacations to come, Lilja the Label enlisted Laranta and Månsson to design two hand-painted prints each. Emblazoned on the brand’s high-quality swimwear crafted from Econyl, a regenerated nylon fabric, the vibrant artworks appear on various styles, including bathing suits and bikinis that offer a range of silhouettes from triangle and drawstring to crop tops. Plenty of coverage options allow you to choose anything from high-waist, full coverage to cheeky and thong.

For her prints, Malmö-native Månsson turned to southern Europe, where her works ‘Voyage’ and ‘Midsummer’ capture the essence of the region’s sweltering warm-weather months. “Both designs are hand-painted and inspired by Mediterranean summer and ‘la dolce vita’,” she explains. “For me, that’s beach umbrellas, hot sand, seafood, and beautiful flowers. My favourite detail is that you can see the brush strokes in the patterns, which truly makes it wearable art.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona-based Laranta's designs ‘Picnic’ and ‘Siesta’ feature saliva-inducing sweet and salty treats, a signature of her colour-bursting artworks. “Drawing inspiration from my love of fashion, I envisioned the swimwear I would wear myself and identified objects and colours from my art that would translate well onto garments,” she shares. The best part? In line with Lilja the Label’s hallmarks, almost all pieces in the collection are reversible, providing versatility in styling and ensuring longevity.

The limited-edition collaboration is now available online at liljathelabel.com and in-store in Helsinki.
