Mads Mikkelsen is no stranger to fashion's front row, but this season, the Danish actor stepped right onto the runway
Every fashion week has its viral celebrity moment, and one delivered today by the menswear spring/summer '25 circuit in Milan is one that Scandinavia can claim – with Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen closing Zegna's runway show.
Reminiscent of Prada's choice to have a slew of veteran 'villain' actors close its autumn/winter '12 show, Mikkelsen – best known for his role in Hannibal fame – proved a dapper casting choice by the Italian luxury house.
On the catwalk (coloured yellow by creative director Alessandra Sartori to evoke the colour of harvest-ready linen crops in Normandy, lined with copper linen 'blades'), Mikkelsen stole the show in a chocolate-brown jacquart knit and wide-leg trousers, layered with a deep-terracotta iteration of the 'Il Conte' leather jacket that coordinated with buttery soft Mocassin loafers. In each hand, he toted coordinating hold-alls.
Mikkelsen has been a global ambassador for Zegna since May 2023. At the time of the announcement, the actor noted his admiration for the brand's "commitment towards quality, innovation and craftsmanship." As showcased in the set design and garments themselves, the SS25 celebrated linen – the textile so synonymous with summer – and also confirmed its pledge to certify its linen fibres as 100% traceable from this year onward.
