Vogue Scandinavia's editor in chief graces screens tonight as the fashion expert commentating live from Stockholm's esteemed Nobel Prize Gala
Each year, the Nobel Prizes – widely regarded as the most prestigious awards for intellectual achievement – are awarded to individuals whose work has contributed to great progress in their respective fields. It culminates annually in the Gala evening, as is happening tonight, when royalty, world leaders, and brilliant minds gather at Stockholm Town Hall for the 2024 Nobel Prize Gala in all their finery. Contributing to the broadcast from the heart of the esteemed action is Vogue Scandinavia's Martina Bonnier, invited by the Nobel committee to be the fashion expert for the event's official Swedish broadcast.
Who is Martina Bonnier? Bonnier was born into the world of publishing, yet is the only one from her family to have chosen the path of journalism as a professional career. She found her start as a news journalist, but her lifelong love of fashion eventually led her into fashion journalism – a field in which she has remained for the past 30 years. Bonnier has now established herself as one of the most reputable editors-in-chief in Scandinavia in modern times; introducing and helming *Vogue Scandinavia *– the first Vogue magazine in the Nordic region – three years ago.
"I do think it was destiny – in combination with ideal timing, curiosity and my downright nerdy love for fashion – that made me take that daunting leap to becoming editor-in-chief of the very first Vogue in the Nordic region," Bonnier said at the time of the publication's launch.
"We have created this magazine to celebrate the very best of Nordic fashion, design, talent and culture. To share our world with you and paint the Nordics as a masterpiece," she went on. They are words that exactly reflect her mission tonight as the fashion expert reporting from the 2024 Nobel Prize Gala.
