Omega makes an extraordinary leap, releasing a blue and yellow Seamaster Aqua Terra timepiece inspired by Swedish ambassador (and world pole vaulting champion) Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis just in time for the Olympics

In track and field events, few names have set the bar quite like Swedish-American pole vaulter Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis – both literally and figuratively. An athlete at the top of his sport, the current world and Olympic champion, has broken the world record eight times over in his career – the latest seeing him soaring over a new height of 6.24m.

Duplantis' athleticism has landed him an ambassadorship with Omega in 2020, and now – just in time for the Olympics – the iconic Swiss watchmaker releases Seamaster Aqua Terra inspired by the Swedish champion. Rendered in blue and yellow, the colours of the Swedish flag, it features a number of exclusive details in celebration of Mondo’s achievements in athletics.

In homage to Duplantis, the 41mm timepiece is presented in brushed stainless steel with an integrated strap made from blue rubber with neat stitching in yellow. But the devil is in the details, this time on the dial. Rendered in signature Aqua Terra style, the blue watch face is given a traditional opaline finish with horizontal stripes, while the quarter-hour numbers are marked in yellow. Most notably, the yellow-varnished central seconds hand takes on a pole vault-inspired shape, featuring Super-LumiNova on top to represent the grip of the pole.

Precision has been critical throughout Mondo’s sporting journey. That's why the watch is further equipped with a Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre, assuring the very height of accuracy, performance, and magnetic resistance.

Undoubtedly, the Vogue Scandinavia darling, featured in our latest issue with girlfriend Desiré Inglander, is bound for further success in the games ahead – sporting not only a blue and yellow unitard, but an Omega Seamaster to match.
