Mother of Pearl's timeless Spring/Summer 2022 collection was a calm breath in our busy schedules
The fact Mother of Pearl is one of Zalando’s Sustainability Award finalists this season comes as no surprise. With responsibility at the forefront of every design, the brand creates classics without environmental compromise. As with every season, creative director Amy Powney was less concerned with trends and more with creating timeless designs and a transparent supply chain.
Against Mother of Pearl’s signature palette – muted colours in hues of tan – were refreshing pops of bright watermelon pink accompanied with military khaki. The Spring/Summer 2022 collection also saw the return of the quintessential Mother of Pearl silhouettes. Laidback and easy-going, maxi dresses with voluminous sleeves and wide-legged trousers were adorned with intricate details; bows tied in the back and French seams stitched on the outside to add texture to form-fitting designs. As always, the trademark pearls were pinned to the sleeves.
