Mulberry and Regina Pyo have joined forces to create the perfect autumnal capsule collection
In a 'marrying of two spirits' Mulberry and Rejina Pyo have unveiled something new in time for the encroaching cooler months. For the latest installation of the Mulberry Editions – a series of collaborations with leading contemporary design talent – the heritage British brand has teamed up with the South Korean designer to provide a sumptuous collection of bags, accessories, ready-to-wear and jewellery, all of which have one thing at their core: the modern woman.
Renowned for her sensitively designed and timeless pieces, Pyo has taken her inspiration from Mulberry's past and present, reworking bags such as the archival 'Blenheim'. Stripping them back and adding touches from her collections such as the knotted closure, she has taken the classics and added a twist of the unexpected. Teddy bear key-rings bring a touch of playfulness to the collection and top-handle crossbody bags draw inspiration from the 'Clovelly' bag family.

In a distinctly autumnal palette, the collection plays with the notion of British design archetypes, especially across the ready-to-wear range (an unusual foray for Mulberry) with a covetable camel trench coat and belted suit in heritage check. All pieces encompass the timelessness of the British brand alongside the effortless elegance and attention to detail for which Pyo is recognised. Unsurprisingly, the devil is in the details: note the organic draped structure of the knitted scarf-top, meticulous finishes like tortoiseshell buttons, and the richly tactile finishes, all of which nod to the artistic spirit a Pyo women naturally possesses.
When I collaborate with someone, it’s important for me to consider what they value, what they bring to the world, and how they treat people.

“When I collaborate with someone, it’s important for me to consider what they value, what they bring to the world, and how they treat people," Pyo says. "Mulberry creates pieces you want to cherish and treasure for a long time, it’s that essence that I always aim to imbue in my own brand.”
The main beauty of the collection, however, is its celebration of womanhood, in line with the strong female community that both brands have fostered. Fittingly, the campaign for the collaboration, shot by photographer Gwen Trannoy, stars Argentine artist Conie Vallese, a long-term friend of Pyo's whose designs unpack the multiple layers of womanhood. Vallese was handpicked by Pyo to front the campaign as a woman who truly embodies the spirit and essence of the collaboration.
