The British luxury brand is the latest to receive the prestigious recognition for its sustainability efforts

It’s been a stellar month for sustainability news in fashion, with Danish Birger Christensen Collective (home to beloved brands like Rotate and Remain) announcing its B Corp certification a couple weeks back and now British luxury label Mulberry joining the ranks, having just nabbed the esteemed stamp of approval as well. Certifications like the B Corp are pivotal in measuring a company’s environmental and societal footprint, and earning one reflects a genuine dedication to transparency, accountability and the fight for a better future for our planet.

In an industry notorious for its heavy pollution, becoming B Corp certified marks a significant achievement. Alongside Birger Christensen Collective, Mulberry claims a spot in a coveted cohort that boasts brands like Ganni, Chloé, and 66°North.

Mulberry is one of the first global luxury brands to become a B Corp, and this reflects the DNA of the company and the hard work of the teams.

Andrea Baldo, CEO of Mulberry

“I’m proud that my first announcement as CEO of Mulberry is our B Corp certification. Mulberry is one of the first global luxury brands to become a B Corp, and this reflects the DNA of the company and the hard work of the teams,” says Andrea Baldo, CEO of Mulberry. “But it is a milestone, not a destination, and we look forward to learning from – and contributing to – a range of businesses in order to be a force for good for our communities and the environment.”

To obtain a B Corp certification, a company must attain at least 80 points out of 200, with every aspect of the business examined against five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Mulberry secured a score of 87.1, receiving recognition for the label’s efforts in responsible sourcing and product circularity. While sustainability has been woven into the brand’s operations since it was established in 1971, in 2021, Mulberry bolstered its eco-conscious practices with a manifesto dubbed ‘The Five Cs’ – climate, cultivation, craft, circularity and culture – underscoring its commitment to protecting the environment, with goals like achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
