With 17 nominations and six wins, Nicole Kidman is no stranger to the Golden Globes, but she is as thrilled as ever to be nominated for the juicy sexual thriller Babygirl. We talk to the iconic actor about the “unusual” film just days before the awards

“It is thrilling! Truly,” gushes Nicole Kidman about going to the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the Golden Globes this Sunday. I reach her on Zoom at her Tennessee home, where she lives with husband Keith Urban and their two daughters, Sunday and Faith. This is also where she was when she learned the news of her Golden Globe nomination for her starring role in Babygirl. “I was here in Nashville. I was like, ‘Oh my God’,” she says. “I was so very excited to come, and my daughters are so excited. My husband too. It was a big moment for me.”

Even though the 57-year-old Australian actress was experiencing her 17th Golden Globe nomination (when she got the news, she was getting her daughters ready for school) this does not feel like a business-as-usual moment for the actress, who has six Golden Globe statuettes in her house already. Her first win was in 1996 for To Die For followed by wins for Moulin Rouge!, The Hours and Being the Ricardos. For the miniseries Big Little Lies, she won two awards – one for Best Actress and another as a producer. But this nomination for Babygirl stands out.
